Carry and set down: a kit for real movement

Think about the route with the bag in hand, not only the equipment on a table.

Give carrying a place

Choose a manageable arrangement for the intended outing. Consider how frequently used items will be reached and where the bag can be set down. An attractive collection of tackle may be inconvenient when carried together. Match each item to a real task.

Keep equipment protected

Follow the relevant instructions and protect sharp components. Inspect before leaving rather than discovering an issue halfway through the trip. Do not choose unfamiliar gear only from a picture. The current permitted methods and your actual circumstances remain separate checks.

Notice the awkward step

Afterwards, record where carrying or packing became inconvenient. Change one detail next time. The river index can collect these small adjustments without turning every experience into a reason to buy more or replace an entire familiar kit.
