The return entry: capture the detail while it is fresh

A short immediate note is more dependable than a precise story written later.

Write one concrete event

Record what actually happened in preparation or packing away. Avoid broad ratings if they will not help next time. The entry does not need to include everything. A small task-related detail can preserve the most useful part of an ordinary outing.

Mark memory’s limits

Date, approximate duration and confirmed context should stay distinct. Do not invent measurements from a general impression. Put a possible explanation in a separate field. This makes later review clearer and allows the first idea to change without rewriting the event.

Save a next step

Choose one small adjustment and the source needed to check it. The note should leave a practical beginning for the next plan. It does not need a dramatic catch, perfect photograph or a confident conclusion about the water to be worth keeping.
